Gurgaon Metro: 2 days to the beginning of a new era!
There is excellent news for people living in the city of Gurgaon.
Delhi Metro would connect Gurgaon to Delhi from June 21.
In just two days, we would have a new mode of transport.
Initially, Metro would connect Huda City Center in Gurgaon to Qutb Minar in Delhi.
COnnectivity to other parts of Delhi would only be complete later this year.
This connectivity would not be useful to a lot of folks around here who might want to travel to as far as North or East Delhi but it is a good beginning.
We cannot wait to become one of the first travelers on this new route.
June 21, 2010 would be a historic day indeed!

24×7 Eating joints in Gurgaon
Where to get food in Gurgaon after 12
Overnight eating joints in Gurgaon
I have been living in Gurgaon for the past one and a half year. And I have been roaming around in Gurgaon for the past four years. Almost. And most of the times we go out during night only, after 12 at times.
Unlike Delhi, Gurgaon has quite a variety of eating joints. I guess that is because of the overnight working culture of this city. You can find roadside Maggi stalls also and you can eat at posh hotels also. Gurgaon has something for everyone.
Here is a list of eating joints in Gurgaon, which remain open till the wee hours. It’s not exhaustive though.
Citrus café at Lemon Tree Hotel, City Centre
It’s a multi cuisine coffee shop. You can get proper meals and snacks here. Their Chicken and Rice combo makes a decent choice if you are really hungry. Otherwise, one can also opt for soups and salad.
Costa Coffee at Infinity Towers, Cyber City
This outlet of Costa is situated in an office complex and hence it remains open throughout the night. They serve coffee in three different size servings. The medium size serving is big enough and it can take you half an hour to finish it. Their largest serving can easily suffice three people ( only if they have allowed us to do so). Their schezwan sandwich is is quite good and you can give it try if you are bored from the regular affair. What I would really recommend are their cakes and muffins.
The most annoying thing about this outlet is that we have to park our car at least half a kilometer away. Its an open parking and the guy charges 30 bucks. That is more than what we pay at underground parking of some Gurgaon malls.
UniCafe in Sushant Lok-I (opposite Park Plaza)
After CCD on MG Road closed its doors for night birds like us, we started opting for Unicafe in Sushant Lok phase 1. This place has a good variety in food and drinks, but their coffee is not recommended. Go there if you are hungry and want to grab a bite or two. And wash down your food with any of the cold beverages they serve. We like their Potato Wedges the most. And their sandwiches are big enough for two persons. Overall, it’s a decent place if you are low on budget.
DT Diner at Cyber Greens, DLF City
Its a food court and has ample of options. Though I doubt it remains open throughout the night. The McDonald outlet is the one we have frequented mostly around 1am. It remains open till 2am but with limited menu. There is a Subway outlet also which remains open till 11pm only.
Parantha and Maggi wala near Convergys
This parantha wala near Convergys is quite famous. All the call centre guys go there to satisfy their taste buds during odd hours. We have been to this place twice or thrice I guess. The paranthas were okay. The chap also serves maggi, omlette, egg bhurji, cold beverages and coffee and tea. Actually, there are two or three Parantha wala bhaiyas over there and everyone makes almost similar paranthas.
McDonald’s on NH8, Manesar
I don’t think I need to say much about this one. Its open 24×7. It’s a drive in actually. Sometimes the burgers are good and at times they are pathetic. Also, the limited menu is a big annoyance. Plus the jam at the Toll Plaza is really scary. At times it takes really long to cross this point.
As I have already said, this list is not exhaustive. These are the places that I have visited in the past three years. There can be some really good options, which I may not know about.
There are, of course, the coffee shops of the various hotels that remain open throughout the night.
