Guys...TCS is absolutely the pits...the worst company to work for...if you have an alternate option , take it...dont work for TCS, all you will learn there is dirty politics and how to become a bitch of human being...if you are a lateral hire planning to down TCS, take this advice and dont...they will not let you survive more than 2-years...beware...i curse the company to fail really

Guys this really seems to be scary!!! I am a 2009 pass out and placed in TCS as ASA.... i am scared as hell after reading all these comments! i always thought TCS would be a great learning environment and a good place to work in... but it really sucks after reading all these comments... i think i am gonna think of something else as a career :-(

I worked in TCS, Kolkata long back in 2007. which I found to be the worst company I ever worked. They drive their company with severe racism against other state peoples. All top peoples being bengalis, they give promotions and long term onsites to only bengolis (preferably girls). Out siders (other state peoples) are never given a propmotion. If given then he must have a good link wid higher people (1 in every 500 out siders). They hire only dumb people because they only have support projects (95%) and dumb people won't demand during appraisals and dumb people look only for job security and a Company Tag. People from non-IT backgroung are promoted to Tech Lead (only for locals) and so on over BE/MCA skilled guys. If they have dependency on you for a project then they will give 4-5 rating through out the year for quarterlys. If project is finished just before ur annual appraisal.. you r gonna fk** with 2 rating. and if u shout , u get another 2 with regular decreaments in your salary with every 2s and a pink slip.....

TCS kolkata is a Hell..... Out siders don't dare to go there.......Kolkata is a black hole...........you go there but its hard to come out of that fkin hell .... because all big companies there too have the same bengolis and the same racism.....

I worked every where in India and abroad too but never ever seen a hell like kolkata IT people and their politics.........

Delay in joining dates
Hi All,
I got offer from TCS and I resigned from my current organization.
Later when I came out from the working company, recruitment team in TCS Bangalore told me there would be a delay in joining dates. I have been waiting (job less) from Dec 2008 till now. No news from them till now. I could meet many people like me who lost their job after getting offer from TCS.

Hey hi. What you say really hurts. But then I'm not really sure about that. I think you might be right. But then in our account they had these fixed estimates - this much work can be done in this much time and people had been sent for PIP programs before.
Anyway here is my experience somewhere near the beginning days of my work - I got up at 6pm and left. Boss called me around 6:30 to ask where I was. When I told him its already time and besides I finished work for the day. he said that there was still more work remaining and if I had told him that I have finished he would have given me more work. And if I finish work completely I should help my teammates complete their work. Either I can help them out or find out where they are stuck. Then he started what was going to be a VERY LONG lecture next day on ethics.

Next day we had more than a 1 hour discussion on these issues. He started telling me that if I was working for this account it would have to be this way. I told him I had finished my work and completed my 8 hours. There was no reason to work more. Besides I had some work outside too. Then he gave me a long lecture on how a person should be etc.

Next day he escalated "some issues" to his PM about me. I was called there and scolded. So I went and complained to the GL (thats 3rd level boss). But unfortunately due to the constant di*k licking by my boss he was unwilling to listen. I even spoke to the HR and finally the PM about this. But it didn't work out with anyone.

i'm glad i resigned and whats more i'm working 8-9 hours in my new company.

I understand that you are shocked completely reading this. Look at it this way - if you have ANY other offer in hand then you can try finding out about it. Most probably it will be a better condition than this place.

And if you have to join this brutal workaholic company then you already know what to expect when you go there. Believe me it pains now but when you go knowing all this it will go easier on you if it happens to you.

Although they say TCS is a secure company I didn't feel secure. There was no date for project allocation, no fixed date for my job call letter, a lot of rumours about ppl being fired in different centres. So I wouldn't recommend leaving another offer and taking TCS on the basis of job security.

Ok do this test: Talk to ANY random TCS employee and ask them what is the organization structure (the order of designations) in TCS. Most ppl dont even know where they are headed.

well .. its totally on luck ... one gets to f@#k and the other one gets f@#ked ..... thats the truth of life ... you be anywhere ..... its the way you take it ... but trust me ... you pass both of them in your lfe sooner or later ..... anyways ... i too am going to pass out in 2009 .. and is already recruited by TCS .. and plaaning to join it ... lets hope i get the former choice more than i get the later one ......

I was supposed to join TCS on 1st week of Jan, but when i called up TCS recruitment team, was shocked as they asked me to extend my stay in my current organiz.. & join TCS later. I wasn't informed abt the delay in joining by mail or phone .. but found by myself and that too after i resigned my current organization. I feel really disgusted by this and the TCS recruiment team is not at all updating the exact joining date .. not sure why? Anyone who can help me here or suggest me what to do?

I am a 2008 joinee, I am really terrified with the reviews of the people out there. Well I don't have any other offer in hand, presently...so I don't have any option but to join TCS. We are facing a substantial delay in our joining dates as well, but that's not a matter of concern for me. Guys, is that all the TCSers around the globe facing such problem or it depends on the region, I mean I was suggested by many people not to take (if u find any option) TCS Delhi/Noida/Gurgaon. Is this correct? Is it safe to be allocated to Mumbai or Bangalore, Hyderabad regions? Kindly elucidate....!!

Its really correct , i have total of 5 year experience ,i joined in TCS 2 years back ...Last two years i was working 16 Hrsx7days.....No recognision even though i am a team lead...Not at all caring resourses ..No systems...even though delivery should be done in time.........Really a B***h company

Hmm.. Its interesting to see that we all have different experiences. You are free to say whatever you like but do you really think ppl like me should keep quiet about this? Before I confirmed joining with TCS I had asked as many people as possible about the company. I dont have ANY relative who is an engineer. The best source of info was rummaging through the net to see what people are saying. If I had found a post like what I wrote above I wouldnt have joined this blood sucking company. In your eyes I may be polluting the company image but in my eyes I'm just letting ppl, maybe someone like me out there, know about this company and its "values".
I had heard so much about how "ethical" this company is. How work ethics are different in this than all others. Our Placement dept. guy had given a whole lecture of one period emphasising how TCS cares about its employees. And what did I think? "This is it! I have made it to my dream company". I used to argue with my infy friends about how their life is going to suck in toil while I'll be working in an ethical company.

My experience has also been bad.
1)Working 14 hours X 6 days. Yup it sux big time. But more importantly its the attitude of these son of b**ch bosses. I wasnt given the "compulsory" training that everyone else got for the project (not ILP. Its a training focussed on Java alone). Was overloaded with work. Alone non-tamil guy but team was good. Pl and EVERYONE in the entire f**ing module spoke in tamil.
In the beginning when I informed PL that I had worked till 1am to complete the work what was his reaction? -I dont care. If you were a good employee you wouldnt have to do that. (Yeah right! I didnt get any training and the design is full of flaws cause my PL2 simple gave a go to the design without even looking at it). Have you completed the project?
I got shocked outta my wits when I heard that! "No"
Then I dont want to hear these things. You completed the work first.

2)That a$$hole complained to his boss that I wasnt putting in effort.

3)Pay sucks

4)The building has 2 TT tables in the cafeteria. Thats it. (Oh and bring your own equipments. Not even the balls).
I went to the Infy campus recently and it rocked

5)following things are blocked in TCS. Read carefully and SLOWLY to take in the full experience I go through here: Personal emails (gmail/yahoo). (I check them on sundays only. My PL scolds me for not comming on Sundays. Somedays he calls me up to know where i am and what doing). Social networking sites (orkut/wayne etc. Apparantly TCS doesnt care whether you have friends or not. You just work it off. I think p*mps would do better in this company cause I feel the same). All sports/gaming/entertainment sites. Some NEWS sites! (on the category of "politcs/opinions"). Several proxy sites. If you find new ones they will be blocked whithin 4-7 days. All audio/video sites like youtube/mp3 sites where you share. (By the way iPod is banned during work hours). Some FORUM & DISCUSSION sites also ("TCS blocked categories"). Besides all this they also monitor the downloads. All exe/zip/audio/video files are blocked. If you click on some downloading link somehow it will first download for 2-3 min, and then you'll get an error alert as it has been blocked. Even your mail files are checked for attachments. I tried saving my "exported bookmarks file" in my mail as an attachment. It was detected an deleted. No htm files attachments.

6) Headaches/Loss of enthusiasm/depression/losing the grip on life/no time for even the BASIC ACTIVITIES! I had to change my bank address and apply for new debit card as I had lost my old one. Now when do I go there? Mon-Sat 8-11 I'm in the office. the bank opens at 10 and closes before I even have dinner. I had to go to the bank during my lunch time.
On sundays I only wash clothes, arrange my room, bring some food and do my normal routine. There is barely enough time left to relax let alone enjoy the sunday. That day I spend in resting off.
New terms learnt on the job - "JOB BURNOUT" google it. It will tell you my experience better.
And I was the person who didnt have headaches ever.

7) My boss submitted my team members work in his name. To the eyes of his superior he is very efficient and hard working person. Someone who is gentle and calm natured. (I have seen the way he laughs and acts like a baby in front of them. He licks them.) To his subordinates he is a monster. Someone very cold hearted and amazingly cruel. A damn loser who has no social life nor any respect for anyone. What are my team members plan? Resign as soon as possible. Me too.

8) The MATC. I dont have the strength left to tell you about them. They have been renamed to RMG. You can google up on MATC to know about them.

A note of painful reality needed here on TCS..I used to work in Tata Consultancy Services earlier. Frankly, I was shocked to see the level of staff exploitation as well as lack of ethics in their client work culture, contrary to the general impression created by them in front of the Industry. I remember that they completely copied a major Benchmarking study from one client to another without any sincere effort done at all, happened in front of my eyes.. It is sad to see the American etc Industry running after and incredibly enriching these kind of firms, who fundamentally grew from highly unethical and exploitation driven business models. Also, it may surprise many of us to know that none of the good and qualified professionals stayed long in TCS in 1990s and beyond. Most of the good genuine professionals were harassed and suppressed politically by the highly predominant and huge number of low-quality and less educated but highly political old timer staff in TCS , and left the firm after demotivation in this kind of negative work environment. Result is that all the low quality and less educated people who have stuck to TCS past 10-20+ years are occupying most of senior positions nowadays, while almost all the good people in the past 10 odd years left due to demotivation and harassment in this highly political work environment.. LET THIS BE A CHALLENGE TO TCS, IF THEY CAN REFUTE THIS FACT.. There are hundreds and maybe thousands of good ex-TCS employees who can vouch for this sad fact..
