Haryana government promises 24×7 power supply by 2013

Another ambitious statement made by the people in power.

Haryana government has claimed that they would have surplus power by 2013 and that means the state would no longer get power cuts due to shortage of supply.

I might be wrong but I have heard these promises several times in the past. Every time they have a new deadline that is years ahead.

I am pretty sure that the growing population and the industrialization would ensure that the demand would stay ahead of the supply and we would still have power cuts in the year 2013.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation set to trial run on the Gurgaon line

The launch of the trial run would be attended by Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Urban development minister Jaipal Reddy.

This test run would be for a distance of 11 kilometers from HUDA City Center to IFFCO Chowk, MG Road, Sikandarpur, Guru Dronacharya, Arjangarh, Ghitorni and Sultanpur Metro stations.

Delhi Metro has still not decided on the public launch of the stretch between Delhi and Gurgaon. Apparently, Haryana government has requested them to launch the metro in Gurgaon region before the entire stretch is complete to provide connectivity with Delhi.

National Disaster Management Authority to help Gurgaon!

Haryana government is finally awake. They are now going to take help of the National Disaster Management Authority to launch a Disaster Preparedness and Resilience Initiative Pilot project.

Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority Rajendra Kataria spoke about this project: “We have prepared a plan keeping in mind the fast pace at which Gurgaon is developing. Our aim is to handle all sorts of crises, man-made or natural, by reducing the reaction time of the various bodies involved”.

They are also considering upgrading the fire brigade infrastructure in the city which is much needed looking at the growing population of the city.

In addition, the city administration is also planning to train manpower to deal with accidents and terrorist activities.

However, everything mentioned here and much more is just under planning stage right now. Nothing has been done! ;)
