2009 saw less crime in Gurgaon compared to 2008

Gurgaon Commissioner of Police Surjeet Singh Deswal has stated that the city saw less crime reports in 2009 compared to 2008.

In 2009, Gurgaon Police recorded 7,232 criminal cases compared to 7,969 cases in 2008.

Of course, these figures are just on paper. A lot of cases are not reported while lots of others are not recorded by the cops as they ask for bribes to file an FIR (in real world!).

Deswal said that his plan for the year 2010 is to improve the traffic management system in the city which has become a mess in the recent years.

He further said that cyber crime is on the rise in the city. Deswal said: “Fake bank accounts were sold for a mere Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 and the anti-social elements could be using these accounts.”
